I wanted to let you know about a free festival we are putting on in South Fork CO, on August 22nd and 23rd 2009.
The festival is called Rhythms On The Rio (www.rhythmsontherio.com).
It will be a free 2 day festival with on-site and local camping. It will be a pass the hat donation based benefit for the Rio Grande Headwaters Land Trust, and the High Valley Community Center for kids, and is being put on by The South Fork Music Association, a non-profit volunteer 501-3C Group.
Headling acts will include the Nershi-Law Trio (formerly Honkeytonk Homeslice) and friends, Great American Taxi, and others. Appearing with Bill and Jill Nershi will be Scott Law, and Darol Anger (plus maybe some other unannounced guests). The Darol Anger Trio, and others, will also appear that
day. On August 23rd 2009, Great American Taxi, Drew Emmitt, Susan Gibson, Pete Kartsounes, and others will also be appearing.
The festival will take place on the grassy banks of the Rio Grande river in the San Juan mountains of South Fork CO (just over Wolf Creek Pass from Pagossa Springs and west of Alamosa in the town of South Fork on highway 160), on August 22nd and 23rd 2009. It is easy to get to, and should be a kind, relaxed, real good time for everyone. Tickets are free, but must be downloaded off of the web site.
Can you please pass the word? Please check out the web site, and if you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me by email (michael@delibdesigns.com or on tribe). Thanks!
Michael

Sun, July 12, 2009 - 1:04 AMHere we go again. -

Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Mon, July 13, 2009 - 5:32 PMQuaydin, do you not approve of this either? -
-
Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Tue, July 14, 2009 - 12:54 PMI do not.
The primary reason is that this is an EVENT, not a TOPIC.
The secondary reason is that The Dead are not scheduled to perform. -

you are a piece of work a real piece of work.
You remind me of every nightmare roommate I have ever had.

Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Wed, July 15, 2009 - 1:40 PMQuaydin they just arent worth it. The guy is not that out of bounds in fact he is far more inbounds than the last one. A lot of people in this tribe might relly enjoy a FREE festival that benefits group trying to protect the enviroment.
Look man you remind me of this guy I play basketball with. He calls a foul on every single play. Maybe some of them are fouls but some things you jut let go because they arent worht slowing down the game but not this guy he calls you on the slightest thing every ytime and dont even think about calling him out on a foul he will protest it everytime. By the way the guy is a total republican.
I was annoyed with some of the posts. The free mystery book thing I found completly unappealing. You know what I did as a lot of people in here probably did too? I moved on I didnt read it or even open the htread up. If someone else wants to talk about that well then fine they are welcome too there is no need for me to blow a whistle over it.
Quaydin I cant tell if you honestly dont get it or are just being intentionaly anal but seriously dont sweat the small stuff man you will give yourself a heart attack and I really dont want to see you do that to yourself. Unwind a little bit let go of some of that tension and Im not saying that to be a dick man Im realy not. I think you might enjoy life a itle more if you did. -

Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Wed, July 15, 2009 - 7:56 PMCoach, you are making a lot of sense. I wasn;t going to respond to any of this because, why give it juice?
but for the record, the "free mystery book" features a spiritual Deadhead rural sheriff. that's why it;s here at all. I heard the author speak on David gans' "Dead to the WOrld" show a couple years ago when it first came out. he;s not a great writer but it;s enjoyable for Grateful Dead fans and the story unfolds okay. his earlier two novels are also about the rock and roll world as well, but not about the GD. -

I hope you didnt feel that I was implying that thread was inapropriate. I understand it was about the dead. I just used that as an example of something I chose not to participate in rather than complain. It was entirely appropriate I just would probably not read a mystery about the dead. Then again maybe I would. You know I probably should have had more of an open mind about it. I just assumed it was a self published thing I wouldnt apreciate. LOL now look what I have done to myself Ive gone and ruined a perfectly good anlogy with the facts

Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Thu, July 16, 2009 - 9:04 AMThe day this post showed up, I had four inappropriate posts in seven tribes. All were Events posted as Topics. That made the abuse rate 57% for the day. That's out of hand.
Furthermore, I sent a message to the OP in this thread suggesting that they'd have more success if they'd post such things as Events. Their reply was gracious and I suspect they will only make the mistake once.
I'd like to know why you feel compelled to stick your nose into other peoples' business. The reason I speak up on this issue is Self-Defense. What's your excuse? -
-
Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Thu, July 16, 2009 - 2:03 PMStop being such a crybaby and suck it up! Self defense? Are you freaking kidding me? My God that may very well be the single lamest thing I have ever heard on tribe. Dude put down the mouse and pick up the Valium. The world, let alone tribe doesn't find you significant enough to require your need for "self defense" -

OT Kearney Dt Be=ooks (Slipknot)
Thu, July 16, 2009 - 3:58 PMhey COach, I'm ignoring this whole business about EVENTS vs. whatever TOPICS because, basically, looks like some folks have too mch computer time ontheir hands and shouldmaybe spin some disks they like, er like a favorite Grateful Dead recording, and let it go.
or get up and clan the kitchen; that's more or less what I did wen I didn;t get called to work today. that and I made strawberry rhubarb pie and preserves with my 14 year old.
now is that too off topic because I didn;t name it after a favorite Dead song? (*joke*)
but just for the record and I know it;s OT...all three of Gary McKinney;s hbooks were published by Kearney STreet Books, a small publisheer in Washington State, where McKinney is from. They specialize in authors from the Pacific Northwest...you can check them out online.
I'm not a big mystery reader either (my mom is though)...but I decided to check it out, like I said, after hearing the author talk it up a bit on David Gans' Dead to the World radio show. it was fun.
and a good way to fill, not kill, time when otherwise it;s Go on a Trip and Not a Good One about who's posting what events to what forum.
my only other comment, before I'm declared guilty of the same thing (wasting too much time arguing over nothing online) is that this is a set of FORUMS that aren;t even delivered by e-mail, so no one has to read or receive ANYTHING they don't want... -

Re: OT Kearney Dt Be=ooks (Slipknot)
Thu, July 16, 2009 - 4:19 PMJudith, how dare you? The title of this thread is about FREE FESTIVALS okayyyy? jeez absolutley inappropriate -

and no Grateful Dead ticjets for me even if they are for free and ...oh I'm too tired to be creative with my facetiousnessabout being INAPPROPRIATE here.
you have a good night Coach, and everyone else.

See quaydin your problem here is that you seem to think all things are equal. Rest assured they are not. We dont need an excuse because we arent the ones being lame. -

Not sure where you divined that, but it's way off the mark.

Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Fri, July 17, 2009 - 9:05 PMVery lame of you to ignore my question. Let me guess... you don't have an answer for that part? Or is it that your ego won't let you admit you've been wrong?
Point: I haven't been a "crybaby" - you had to stick you nose into other's business when I was trying to find out what was going on. I'd really like to know your motivation for expressing your opinion when it wasn't needed or asked for.
Point: You seem to think that you can slap me without being slapped back. TFB, you are wrong. I will slap you back if I feel it is appropriate. And if you look back, you'll see that I didn't start this animosity.
Point: I've attempted to be polite as a matter of course. (It's difficult to remember where you've been polite.)
Point: When you cannot argue the topic any more, you resort to personally attacking the posters that disagree with you. This is called an "Ad Hominem attack", and is often considered an admission of failure. If you don't believe me, go look it up.
You are welcome to stop this crap at any time. Your opinions about me do not add value to the topics posted here. But if you keep attacking me, I will keep defending myself. So it's your call. You can fuck off and shut up, or not.
I've got more than 25 years of history in dealing with rude behaviour on-line. Are you even 25 years old? You sometimes act half that age. Regardless of your opinion, I've learned what works on-line and what doesn't work. I've seen how rudeness can shut down networks.
I have a prediction for you: Even if I leave Tribe forever, you will still continue to have problems with others.
Since you seem so cavalier about telling me what to do, I'm going to treat you the same way: ESBAM -
-
Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Fri, July 17, 2009 - 9:08 PMESBAM? that must be one of those things they use to say on the internets 25 years ago cause Im pretty sure they dont say that tday
PFFFFFFTTTTTT! -

Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Mon, July 20, 2009 - 4:26 PMQuaydin, Coach didn't stick his nose into somebody else's business. You are commenting on a thread that is publicly open to any member of this tribe. You claim that you are defending yourself, but really what you are trying to defend is a social networking model that doesn't work the way it was meant to work. You want people to post things "off topic" in listings. Listings are not convenient to use on this site as they are akin to advertisements for male enhancement. At least if somebody posts an "Event" as a "Topic", like-minded people (See everybody else who thinks you're being ridiculous) will actually give it a look. This may offend you and you may feel the need to defend an outmoded model that most people have left for facebook, but really all you're doing is wasting your virtual breath. Coach has every right to comment about how petty your posts are, just as you have the right to defend your belief in technology that outlived it's functionality 2 years ago. -

Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Tue, July 21, 2009 - 7:53 AMlet's call the whole thing off, as the old potato/. potahto thing says.
glad Q has events he likes that he can get to, makes a lot more sense than tripping over this thread.
everyone, spin a disc or download something you like or get out in the sun, or get back to work...or post something that;s actualyl ABOUT something here. or read McKinney;s novel about the Deadhead sheriff investigating the murder of an evoronmental activist...it;s entertaining. way more than this dumb food fight.
blessings. there;s nothing to defend, as I see it. and I need to get into the kitchen and slice some peaches, and get my kid off to drama school and see if there;s paid work for me today... -
-
Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Tue, July 21, 2009 - 11:02 AMright on, Judith! : )
or...we could always just rename the tribe to deadheads fight!
j/k
go listen to some music and chillax for a while, peeps. this is just silly. -
-
Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Tue, July 21, 2009 - 2:38 PMYou know what dont jump into the middle of an argument and tell people to "chillax" you sound like a god damned fool and it just pisses people off -
-
Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Tue, July 21, 2009 - 4:59 PMbite me, Coach, you fucking assmunch. you are such a buffoon. you act like you own this and every other tribe I've ever seen you on and you're the big jack ass. I'll jump into whatever, whenever I want. isn't that kind of the whole point of tribe? -
-
Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Tue, July 21, 2009 - 6:54 PMoh wait what happened to the peaceful hippie chick attitude? Why arent you chillaxing?
Its hard when other people are talking to jump in out of nowhere and drop some lame ass "Chillax" on them and not come off as condescending. So
sorry I was harsh and I know I ruffled your boa I just wasnt in the mood to get lectured by some random chick.
Judith had been part of the conversation and I understand where she is coming from. I really doubt you understood where this whole thing started because it wasnt something that started in this thread.
As far as me being a bafoon well your not alone in that opinion but that doesnt make you right -
-
Re: FREE FESTIVAL- Rythms On The Rio - August 22-23
Wed, July 22, 2009 - 9:32 AMCoach, I appreciate both your comment here and the personal apology you sent me. I know I just randomly dropped in - I don't post much on this tribe (admittedly, I lurk regularly), nor on any tribes much these days. I was also in a bad mood when I returned to this thread, only to have been flamed. But hey, you put it out there, it's open to flammage. My bad. Didn't mean to deliver a lecture or be condescending...honestly, I'm not sure I've ever even used the term chillax before. It was my attempt at a little levity. Failed.
And while I generally try to be a "peaceful hippie chick," if you ruffle my boa, I can be as bitchy as the next bitch.
I also apologize for the personal attack on you. Moderator or originator of this thread, please feel free to delete my posts. Indeed - please do.
I miss Jerry.
